Seremoni Critics Choice Awards ke-26 yang digelar secara virtual sedikit berbeda dari tahun-tahun sebelumnya. Walau begitu, kemeriahannya tidak berkurang. Mulai dari penampilan glamor para bintang hingga gempita kemenangan para nominator. Sutradara Chloé Zhao mendulang prestasi prestisius. Tak hanya filmnya memenangkan kategori Film Terbaik, kredibilitas Zhao dalam menulis sebuah naskah dan mengarahkan sebuah karya film turut diapresiasi.

Dari ranah layar perak, serial drama The Crown meraih kemenangan besar tahun ini sebagai karya serial drama terbaik. Keberhasilan yang diikuti oleh kemenangan tiga pemerannya: Emma Corin, Josh O’Connor, dan Gillian Anderson. Tetapi The Crown, yang mengisahkan kehidupan keluarga Kerajaan Inggris, bukan satu-satunya yang menuai reputasi di tahun 2021. The Queen's Gambit menegaskan diri sebagai karya limited series terbaik. Kesuksesan limited series diikuti kepiawaian akting sang pemeran utama, Anya Taylor-Joy, yang turut memenangkan piala Aktris Terbaik.
