Daftar nomine MTV VMAs 2023 diramaikan oleh wajah lama, dan tentu saja, wajah baru. NSYNC naik pentas untuk mewakili menyerahkan salah satu penghargaan Moon Man (piala VMAs) kepada Taylor Swift, yang kembali mencetak sejarah MTV VMAs malam ini. Tahun lalu, Swift menjadi artis pertama MTV VMAs yang memenangkan Video of the Year sebanyak tiga kali. Tahun ini, Swift kembali memenangkannya untuk keempat kalinya. Di luar penghargaan tersebut, ia juga memenangkan penghargaan lain: Best Pop Song, Best Directing, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, dan Song of the Year, seluruhnya untuk lagu Anti-Hero.
